Oh, Disney! You did it again. This time with a super wonderful Canadian couple from Ontario. I have been blessed to document many Disney love stories over the last few years, but this one with Kayla and Jer is one for the Disney books.
With many locations for ceremonies and receptions to choose from on Disney property, they chose to have their ceremony at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa followed by a delicious brunch reception at the California Grill restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Fun fact, this location offers an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom.
The wedding day began with the bride and groom’s prep. Kayla was hanging out with her girls at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge while Jer was with his guys over at Pop Century Resort. Prep with the guys is always full of laughs and jokes. I really loved how they incorporated their Disney theme into their bowties and socks.
While I was with Kayla and the girls, I saw this beautiful hand mirror and immediately had me thinking of our favorite under the sea princess, Ariel, from The Little Mermaid. Which was a perfect fit for our red-head bride who loves Ariel. Beside the mirror, I saw a handkerchief with a handwritten note. This note was from her mom who saved this handkerchief from her wedding for her daughter. Cue the teary eyes, am I right?
When I heard someone say let’s do the confetti I was super excited! I got all the girls to pile on the bed, which may or may not have made some uncomforting sounds with all the bodies piling on, but it made for a great photo opportunity. The countdown began, 3, 2, 1, toss! With big happy smiles, the girls all tossed their petals into the air. These are some of my favorite photos from their wedding day.
This photo. This moment. I was in the hallway packing up my things to drive over to the ceremony location and at the same time, dad and Kayla both stepped out of their hotel rooms. This is where dad got his first glimpse at his daughter as a bride. I love this image. For me, it brings back every emotion from that day.
Before the ceremony, we spent some time at the Grand Floridian for photos of the wedding parties individually and I must say, the lighting we had this morning was so dreamy. I really loved how every dress popped with the simplicity of the white the Grand Floridian offers as a backdrop. Kayla also told me that all her bridesmaids’ dresses were inspired by Disney Princesses.
Notice that hidden Mickey in her Disney bouquet. The perfect Disney touch.
Before we knew it, it was ceremony time at the Wedding Pavilion. The aisle runner was perfect for their theme. Although I am a sucker for the moment the bride walks down the aisle with her father, I really loved their unique touch of having all the kids at the wedding walk down the aisle as different Disney characters. We had Bert and Mary Poppins, Tinkerbell, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Mickey Mouse and more. They absolutely stole the show when they paraded down the aisle.
You may now “Kiss the Girl.” Insert cheers of happiness here.
And wouldn’t you know, life is the bubbles. This bubble exit was magical. They twirled and kissed and their guests cheered.
After the ceremony, we had a small window of time to take some photos with the two of them and their wedding party. We enjoyed the beautiful lighting back at picture point and the wedding pavilion before heading over to the Contemporary Resort for their Cali Grill reception.
This may be one of my all-time favorite venues at Walt Disney World and for two good reasons. First being, that view of Magic Kingdom, but also, the natural light this venue has makes my photographer heart very happy.
These sisters made up the most amazing musical toast. I was in tears from laughing. They basically were poking fun at their older sister the whole time, in a kind way of course.
The fun was just getting started when we had some friends join us for some cake and dancing. I still remember the look on Kayla’s face when she saw them come running into the room. Pure happiness. With big hugs, they moved onto their cake cutting. Disney did an amazing job on this tiered cake.
That view of Magic Kingdom that I spoke about, where here is it! Fit for any Disney Wedding couple.
