Dana and David are a couple local to my home base of Kitchener-Waterloo. I met them at the Wedding Ring Expo in town and we clicked immediately.
They’re actually planning on getting married at the Walper Hotel in September in Kitchener but the stars aligned and we were able to plan their engagement session in Disney.
Disney for a lot of people is not just a place. For many, it’s a connection they share with those they love. Families love to spend time together, couples love to make memories and Dana and David are no different. They are both big Disney lovers.Their proposal actually happened at Disney, too so it was obvious that their engagement shoot needed to take place.
This couple chose the Boardwalk to be their backdrop for their photos. I love this location because the colour pallet is super neutral and the photos usually turn out beautifully.
We did a sunrise session at the Boardwalk. While early mornings are not everyone’s favourites, this early time of day means that the Boardwalk is quieter and it’s not nearly as hot. The lighting makes it a lot of fun as well and we were able to get some really romantic shots on this particular day.
Started at Disney’s Yacht Club. Because this area of Disney means so much to the couple, we took a few photos around the main sign.
They brought some props with them and I love when couples do this. For many of my couples who choose to have their wedding at Disney or to do their engagement photos there, there is a big sentimental piece to Disney. The hats that Dana and David brought were no different.
These hats were hats that they had made at Disney after their engagement. It was so beautiful to have them bring them back for their Boardwalk engagement photos. They talked a lot about that day while we strolled and it’s clear they’re just as in love now as they were when they got engaged.
We spent the next bit strolling around enjoying all the Boardwalk has to offer. We stopped at the billboard for a unique photo.
On the Boardwalk there is a photo booth where you can scan your magic band to get some photos so we used the booth as a prop for our own photos. We stopped at a bar there on the strip before heading to the pedal bikes. I love the splash of colour the yellow brings to this location.
We ended our day at the boat dock and said farewell to the couple there. It was a great day and I’m already looking forward to shooting their wedding in less than a year!
