Jump aboard the disney cruise line and set sail with Megan and Eric. Their Disney Cruise wedding took place on the Disney Dream. This ship is one of 5 in the Disney Cruise fleet. They are adding a sixth this summer – Disney Wish – which I am very excited about. But this cruise ship is one of my favourites. And this Disney Dream wedding is, too.
Megan and Eric were on the 3 night Bahamas cruise. They visited Nassau and Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay is a private island owned by Disney in the Bahamas. They got married at Pelican Point with a 10 a.m. ceremony. Many couples want to be able to have their ceremony, then photos and still have plenty of time to enjoy the island and to celebrate at the reception with their guests.
Because of the morning ceremony, we start prep quite early. The bride usually visits the spa or salon in the morning. I met Megan at the salon while she was getting her hair done before going back to her room to snap some photos of her dress. I then visited Eric and his parents and groomsmen who were getting ready. He was a little nervous for the ceremony itself but so excited about the wedding.
There were so many beautiful little details at this wedding. For example, the bridesmaids hair bows and groomsmens bow ties were all custom made from the same material so they matched. It really is these small details that make a big difference.
While the bride was getting ready, the flower girl fell asleep on the bed which was so sweet. She was so tired because of the early morning so we let her catch some extra sleep before the ceremony. Of course, we had to snap a photo though.
Disney gets everyone off the ship at 9:30 to the beach where the ceremony will happen. Pelican Point is set up with the ship in the background and the whole view is just so pretty.
Eric and Megan had about 30 guests so it was a nice intimate wedding. The ceremony was daily short but so very sweet.
We took wedding party photos right there on the beach and then separated off for some couple photos. Eric works in the airline industry so we made sure to visit the old air strip on the island and the old runway to get some newlywed photos there.
I always take couples down to the watersports beach where they do boat rentals. That beach is a no swim beach so there are no people in the background. It makes for some beautiful photos and most couples can really relax and just be themselves in this space.
Back at the ship, Minnie and Mickey Mouse dropped by the reception. Megan and Eric chose to have Mickey as the captain and Minnie was in her ballgown – attire fitting to a Disney Cruise wedding.
We took some more photos around the ship. I like visiting the steam stack and then I take couples up to the 4th deck. This deck is normally where shuffleboard and the running track and some reading loungers are. It’s usually pretty quiet so, again, it becomes a nice private space for couples.
We finished off in the Atrium which is the main lobby of the ship. The chandelier is super pretty and the staircase adds something special to these photos. Their wedding was close to Halloween so there are some Halloween decorations in the background too. Of course, any decoration by Disney just add to the feel of the room.
This wedding was so special and it was beautiful to be a part of it. The couple had their first child soon after the wedding, too, so it was a really beautiful day to celebrate the start of their family and of their life together.
