I know just how special Disney can be to a family. While I’m a huge Disney fan, it’s been a great way for me to connect with my family too. So, when I had the opportunity to meet with Erin and her family at Disney’s Port Orleans resort for family photos, I jumped right on it.
Known to reflect southern charm and mirror the romance of the rural South, Port Orleans Resort is a getaway within Disney with quaint cottages, white-column mansion houses and beautiful river-side views. The stone streets, fountains and palm trees were a perfect setting to capture this family.
It wasn’t difficult to get them into the shoot at all, and the two daughters were absolutely adorable with their matching outfits, all the way down to their shoes and toenail polish. Being the mother of two sons myself, my heart is definitely warmed by siblings who get along and seem to genuinely enjoy each other’s company. They definitely looked like sisters, or rather partners in crime, as I captured their smiles.
While family photos are always sweet, and are a fabulous way to capture a moment in time before the kids grow up – as they do so fast – I think it’s important to get the parents alone for a while too.
As I’m sure all parents out there are aware, it can be rare to get a nice photo of both parents together. It’s often one corralling everyone together to get a photo, or the other stepping in so that – for once – the person behind the photos can be in one. This is why I always make sure to push the parents out front, without the kids, so they too can have a moment captured in time of just the two of them.
As much as I love capturing weddings and engagements, there’s something special about seeing a family laugh and spend time together in front of a camera. The kids always pull the young side out of the parents and encourage them to let loose and have fun.
Whether it’s the magic of Disney or the magic of family, the results are pretty spectacular. Wanna see more Disney sessions, check out this engagement session from Disney’s Gran Destino Tower here.
